Senolytics have shown the effectiveness in the fight against aging

Scientists from the Mayo Clinic (USA) have developed experimental senolytic drugs  that reduce the number of old cells in the body. They will help to fight not only aging, but also other serious diseases. Human clinical trials were successful.

Senolytics are closely considered by many scientists as a potential treatment for aging. For the first time, American scientists have shown that the drugs work effectively in humans, as they can remove aging cells.

Selective effect of senolytics aimed at senescent cells that accumulate in the body and cause inflammatory processes and, consequently, severe disease. The drug removes them from the blood, skin and adipose tissue.

The trials were conducted on nine people who suffered from kidney disease caused by diabetes. Within three days the patients took oral senolytics, including the combination of dasatinib and quercetin. Experts collected samples of adipose tissue, skin and blood before patients took the first drug dose, and at the end of therapy.

The authors stated that the body not only cleared of senescent cells, but the effect persisted for at least 11 days.

Thus, the study demonstrated that senolytics can reduce the number of aging cells in the body, which gives great potential in the fight against aging, as well as in the development of new treatments for specific diseases.
