It is not necessary to spend hours in deep immersion to achieve measurable changes in brain function, as the first neural transformations begin as early as the second or third minute of practice. Researchers at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences in Bangalore have found that the peak activity of beneficial brain waves occurs between seven and ten minutes. The use of high-precision helmets with 128 sensors has allowed for real-time monitoring of how quickly the brain transitions from everyday distraction to a state of relaxed alertness.

During meditation, there is a specific reorganization of electrical rhythms, which leads to an increase in alpha and theta waves, which are directly associated with inner peace and deep concentration. At the same time, the activity of beta waves of the first type, which are responsible for engaged attention, increases, while delta waves, which are typically associated with drowsiness or lethargy, are suppressed. This complex shift allows individuals to not only achieve a state of calmness but also maintain high levels of productivity and sharpness of thought, making meditation effective even during busy workdays.

An interesting aspect of the study was the comparison of beginners and experienced practitioners: it turned out that the time it takes for both groups to reach their peak state is almost the same. Although professionals demonstrate specific neural responses within thirty seconds of starting, it still takes them about seven minutes to reach their maximum capacity. However, the amplitude and strength of brain waves in individuals with years of meditation experience are significantly higher, indicating a cumulative effect and effective training of the nervous system.

The results obtained prove that short sessions of seven minutes or more are a scientifically proven tool for improving mental well-being, even in extremely busy schedules. The availability of such practices through digital platforms makes them a scalable solution for combating stress and emotional burnout in today’s life. Even a minimal amount of time dedicated to mindful breathing can significantly adjust cognitive processes and increase a person’s overall emotional resilience, regardless of their previous experience.
