The David Hawkins Scale of Mindfulness

Dr. David Hawkins, a well-known researcher of consciousness, in his book “Power against Violence” described a hierarchy of levels of human consciousness, each of which is dominated by a corresponding emotion, perception of life and a certain amount of energy. The higher the level, the more vital energy and the better the understanding of life.

The David Hawkins Scale of Mindfulness
Logarithmic values are displayed on the map, which means that each level grows exponentially. With the help of this scale, D. Hawkins wants to connect a person with a higher reality. The doctor opposes consciousness to the human mind, which does not distinguish the true from the false, as a single energy field in which it is possible to know the Truth. Hawkins came to this conclusion through applied kinesiology, which confirms the relationship of muscle tone with the state of internal organs and mental well-being. The muscles of the body can weaken in the presence of lies and become strong in their absence. To determine your level of consciousness, the doctor suggests using a kinesiological muscle test, with which you can get true information through self-awareness. In his concept, D. Hawkins starts from the hypothesis of R. Sheldrake about the existence of “morphogenetic fields” and the holographic model of K. Pribram’s brain. Here is a brief description of each level. Level 1. Shame. The most energy-poor level. Here, a person is depressed, hates himself and others, and is suicidal. Level 2. Feeling guilty. The inability to forgive the past, not only in oneself, but also in others, immorality, vindictiveness. Level 3. Apathy. Indifference, negligence, spiritual poverty and helplessness. Level 4. Grief. Sadness and devastation, regret and depression. The spread of negative emotions in all areas of life. Level 5. Fear. The world is filled with dangers, and life is dedicated to all the ways to avoid them. This is a world of real and imaginary horrors. Level 6. Desire. A person is subject to passions, attachments, bad habits, and a desire for approval and attention. Level 7. Anger. People who are irritants, instigators of quarrels and fights are located here. Level 8. Pride. This level is a leap forward, a person’s self—esteem increases, but it is still a negative state, as it means ignorance and denial. Level 9. Courage. A level of real strength and enhanced capabilities. A person meets obstacles face to face. Level 10. Neutrality. Here, people live by the principle of live and let live. He is not attached to the results, free from some impulsive emotions. Level 11. Readiness. This is the level of development of will, strength and discipline. A step towards higher levels of awareness. Level 12. Acceptance. Understanding that a person is the creator of his own life path, he is responsible, able to forgive, accept and not judge. Level 13. The mind. Clear, rational thinking, independence from emotions, the ability to think abstractly. Level 14. Love. A person is filled with love for himself and for everything around him, the feeling of love comes directly from the heart. Level 15. Joy. This is the level of saints, spiritual teachers, and healers. A person is filled with compassion, he sees the world as bright and perfect. Level 16. Harmony. A state of bliss. Lack of interpretation. Complete transcendence. Level 17. Enlightenment. The highest level of human consciousness, where everything human is equated with the divine. Each level suggests development options up to the next one. However, this requires a huge energy leap, as a change can fundamentally change your whole life. Without conscious effort, a person will remain at the same level. The scale of measurement of awareness has a range from 0 to 1000 conditional values of the activity of energy fields generated by consciousness, where 1 is the initial existence (bacteria), and 1000 is the perfection of consciousness in the physical body (Jesus, Buddha). Most people reach only 200 on this scale, which is the level of Truth. Interestingly, Hawkins himself defines this level as the boundary between instincts and striving for a higher goal. A person is able to consistently comprehend each level of life experience, move back on the scale, or forward. The range of consciousness activity is determined by the average indicator. The figure shows the author’s scale of mental activity: the key perception of oneself and the divine essence is also located at the level. According to this model, starting from the level of courage, a person is able to overcome obstacles in life and perceive them as incentives for self-development. It is from the 9th level that the conscious movement of life begins. Try to determine your level of awareness. Hawkins Vibration Frequency Control and Enhancement Scale Numerical and letter designations are used as the basic indicators of the scale. The numbers are the maximum degree of vibration boost available when using each item/practice, assuming that the average person starts at 200. That is, the base frequency shown on the comparative scale is added to this value. The letters indicate the four levels of importance of influencing the frequency of vibration: G – vital; S – very important; B – important; A – alternatively. 1.
