Anorgasmia: causes and diagnosis
Anorgasmia is a woman’s lack of orgasm (sexual satisfaction) during intercourse. There are three degrees of anorgasmia:
  • the absence of orgasm, although sexual intercourse is accompanied by pleasant sensations;
  • sexual intercourse is indifferent, sexual arousal and satisfaction are absent;
  • sexual intercourse is unpleasant, accompanied by painful sensations.
There are two types of anorgasmia: primary and secondary. Primary anorgasmia is referred to in cases where a woman has never experienced an orgasm at all with any type of stimulation. Secondary anorgasmia is a disorder in which a woman stops having an orgasm, although she has previously managed to achieve it, even if only once. At the same time, it does not matter under what circumstances or by what means of stimulation a woman reached orgasm earlier: during sexual intercourse, during masturbation, or while sleeping with erotic dreams. Situational anorgasmia is a deviation in which a woman reaches orgasm under certain conditions, but is unable to do so in the absence of such conditions. For example, orgasm is possible as a result of masturbation, but not with stimulation from a partner. One of the types of situational anorgasmia — coital anorgasmia — is that a woman can achieve orgasm in various ways, but not as a result of sexual intercourse. Finally, with sporadic anorgasmia, a woman is able to experience orgasm with various forms of sexual activity, but not always. And finally, there is an exotic type of anorgasmia.: nymphomaniac, in which sexual desire is increased, but orgasm does not occur, despite prolonged stimulation and arousal.

Reasons

There are several causes of anorgasmia. Dysgamy is sexual disharmony between partners. The most common case of dysgamia is a situation in which a man ejaculates before a woman has an orgasm. Dysgamy also includes a radical discrepancy in the temperaments of the partners. The reason for the lack of orgasm may also be too large a penis or, conversely, its underdevelopment. The reasons for the psychogenic nature include: cooling of relations between partners, distrust of a partner. It is not uncommon for married couples to lose interest in sexual activity due to the extreme monotony of sexual relations. The cause of anorgasmia may be depression or chronic fatigue. Anorgasmia in women who have received an excessively strict upbringing may be due to feelings of guilt for their sexual urges that do not coincide with the ideas about sexual behavior instilled from childhood. Sexual ignorance of partners can also cause a lack of orgasm. Finally, a very small percentage of anorgasmia is associated with diseases of the genital and internal organs.

Diagnostics

From a physiological point of view, the lack of orgasm negatively affects the nervous system and the entire body of a woman. Most often, women complain of nervous excitement, general depression, poor health and depression after sexual intercourse that did not end with orgasm. Lack of sexual satisfaction can eventually lead to neurosis and hysterical reactions, cause migraines, irritability, depression and depression. For the treatment of anorgasmia, it is necessary to consult a sex therapist. In case of primary anorgasmia, an examination should be performed to confirm that this is a congenital disorder or that it is caused by a specific disease. In case of secondary anorgasmia, it is highly advisable for both partners to consult a sex therapist.
