Ten amazing facts about the Unconscious
The subconscious, also known as the unconscious, is a set of mental processes of the human mind over which there is no control of consciousness. The very idea that we don’t control all the mechanisms of our mind can be terrifying, but it’s completely natural. Although some facts about the unconscious may surprise you.
The subconscious mind speaks to us through dreams. One of the most popular theories says that dreams are a direct manifestation of the unconscious, and we cannot understand them because we do not know its “language.” Carl Jung believed that the unconscious life in dreams is no less important than the conscious life in the real world.
The subconscious mind controls 95% of our lives. This is, of course, primarily about the movements of our body. We move our limbs instantly, without thinking about it, for which we can thank the unconscious.
The subconscious mind is always on the alert. No matter how deep our sleep is, the subconscious mind continues to work, helping to control the work of internal organs. It is also responsible for hearing, although learning anything on audio cassettes during sleep is not at all “recorded in the subcortex,” as advertisers claim.
The subconscious mind loves habits. Habits “settle” just in the area of our unconscious, allowing us to perform well-learned actions without any involvement of the mind. Depending on the situation, this can be both beneficial and harmful.
The subconscious mind takes everything literally. Which is extremely inconvenient, because it is responsible for our fears. That’s why horror movies or photoshopped images sometimes scare the hell out of us, even though we know they’re not real and don’t pose the slightest danger.
The subconscious mind lives in the present. We can think about the future or immerse ourselves in memories of the past, but the subconscious mind will remind us over and over again that our place is in the present, thereby helping us stay sane. The subconscious mind is designed like a microprocessor. Our mind itself is incredibly complex, and the subconscious mind will give it an extra hundred points ahead in this. It processes a monstrous amount of data, perceiving and processing all the signals from the body and sending them back to the brain.
The subconscious mind does not use words. Instead, it prefers pictures and images. And although, despite popular opinion, we can still read a text in a dream, the signal from the subconscious mind will never come in the form of a verbal construction.
The subconscious is primitive. They don’t know that man has built a civilization and is no longer afraid of saber-toothed tigers. It works at the emotional level, often making us angry or afraid in inappropriate ways.
The subconscious mind is multitasking. It is extremely difficult for us to keep two, much less three or more thoughts in our heads at the same time. The subconscious mind handles such tasks with ease, as befits a well-oiled computer. It’s scary to imagine how much our lives would slow down if the unconscious began to work at the speed of the ordinary mind.
