Biological age predicts health and longevity more accurately

Imagine: you come for a routine medical check—up and get not only tests, but also an accurate answer to the question of how young you are inside. Not according to the passport, but according to the state of the body. Does it sound like fiction? But this is already becoming a reality. Singapore scientists have created a tool that predicts not only the risk of death, but also the quality of life in the future more accurately than others. And most importantly, it tells you what exactly accelerates your aging.

Biological age predicts health and longevity more accurately

A group from the National University of Singapore has introduced a new tool called LinAge2. This is not just another fashionable aging test, but a real medical assistant who knows how to predict how your health will change in the next 10-20 years.

The main difference between LinAge2 is accuracy. It works better than most existing models, including popular DNA tests, and is much clearer to use. The algorithm analyzes health data — such as blood test results, physical activity, and even walking speed — and turns everything into an indicator of biological age.

Interestingly, people with “younger” LinAge2 scores had faster gait, better memory, and needed less help with household chores. That is, the model is able to predict not just diseases, but the real quality of life in the future.

But the most useful thing is that LinAge2 can show you exactly what accelerates your aging. Do you smoke? Are you overweight? Not getting enough sleep? The algorithm will point out weaknesses and help the doctor develop a strategy.: how to slow down aging and prolong the years of active life.

“Our biological age is not a number in a passport, but a reflection of how all body systems work,” explains Jan Gruber, one of the authors of the study. — “LinAge2 helps to see this and start acting in advance, before diseases appear.”

The development involved not only researchers, but also doctors working with elderly patients. This has made the tool practical and ready for use in a real clinic, for example, as part of healthy longevity programs.

In the future, LinAge2 is planned to be introduced into medical practice in collaboration with the Singapore-based healthtech company NOVI Health, as well as tested on people from different countries to make sure that it works equally well regardless of gender, age and lifestyle.

If everything works out, we will soon be able not only to treat diseases, but to anticipate and prevent them. Then medicine will become not a reaction to a problem, but a real system of care for a long and high-quality life.
