One avocado a day improves sleep

Eating just one avocado a day can do more than boost your nutrition — it may also help you sleep better. Participants in a recent study reported deeper, more restful sleep and a drop in heart risk factors — an unexpected bonus from this green fruit. After six months, those in the avocado group reported better overall well-being, improved nutrition, and longer sleep duration.

It’s worth noting that sleep isn’t just about getting more hours. The American Heart Association has already added sleep to its list of eight essential factors for heart health — alongside nutrition, physical activity, and blood sugar levels. So improving your sleep habits can protect your heart just as effectively as quitting bad habits.

Although the study wasn’t specifically designed to analyze sleep, the results were so intriguing that researchers now plan to dig deeper. For now, there’s a good reason to see avocados more often on your plate — especially considering their other health benefits.
